I gotta say… this was a hard email to write. I guess we should rip the band-aid off, right?
After nearly a decade, my time as COO at The Futur ends this month.
Personally, it’s the end of an era. I’ve spent nearly a decade of working towards our big, hairy audacious goal: Helping a billion people make a living doing what they love. Focusing on this cause for so long has been a privilege and an honor.
But it hasn’t been easy.
In fact, the challenges may be what I’m most grateful for. Learning how to lead people and manage a company. Motivating a team through the transition to fully remote work. Sharing openly about failures, struggles, and defeats. Building curriculum, tools, and platforms to serve people I may never meet. Constantly adapting as the industry landscape changed.
It has been a worthy fight.
And that’s what I hope for you: a worthy fight. I hope you have found that fight that pulls you out of bed. The struggle that’s worth the late nights and early mornings. That’s what this journey has meant for me. And you… you made it so meaningful.
You—the Futur family—mean the world to me.
Your support has shaped my career, changed my life, and inspired me to keep creating. And I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to have taken this journey with you.
Thank you.
The words don’t seem to stand tall enough on their own. You made this journey possible. Thank you for showing up. Every subscription, comment, and course purchase has supported not just The Futur but our team and families. And speaking of them…
Working with this team has been a joy. Over the last eight years, I’ve worked with over 100 Futur team members (I counted). I’ve learned something from every one of them.
From Andres, I learned to find joy in even the most mundane. From Min, the value of volume in design ideation. From Carrie, there is always a way - just look harder. From Amy, how much the details matter.
There are too many lessons from too many amazing people to list. Everyone… working with you has been an honor. Thank you.
But I wouldn’t be here were it not for Chris.
Chris has been my mentor, my teacher, and my friend for over a decade. His vision and guidance shaped my path and pushed me to break barriers I never imagined. I’ll carry the lessons I’ve learned from him into everything I do moving forward.
Chris, I’m so thankful for the crazy adventure over the last 8 years, and I leave with nothing but love, respect, and gratitude for you and this wild thing we’ve built. Sincerely, thank you.
And it truly has been wild.
Two and half million subscribers. Nearly 100,000 customers. Almost 30,000 of which bought something I made. Crazy. The sheer size and scale of this wild thing called The Futur still blows my mind.
